Cyclocross racers and owners of earlier disc road bikes know the problem: the frame is Post Mount, the levers are mechanical, and the good hydraulic options all assume you will replace both. The R1 is built for exactly this bike.

Your existing cable pulls a lever inside the caliper, and that lever drives two hydraulic pistons. Mechanical in, hydraulic out. Keep the groupset, keep the routing, skip the bleed kit.

We did not tune the R1 for a wall of initial bite. We tuned it for the most stable braking control: a lever that loads progressively, tells you where the limit is, and lets you hold the wheel right at the edge in mud, gravel or rain.

Two opposed pistons, mineral oil sealed at the factory, and coated pistons that keep sliding smoothly season after season.

As pads wear and the gap grows, turn the knob on the caliper by hand, no tool, and the clearance is back. Turn it slightly further and you have chosen your own bite point. Consistent lever feel from the first ride to the last millimetre of pad.

The body starts as a European high-purity 6061 aluminium billet, die-forged so the grain follows the load path, then CNC-machined to its final piston bores and internal oil passages. Pistons are 7075 aluminium for strength and heat dissipation.

The R1 works with any standard short-pull (C-brake) lever. For the most direct feel, pair it with the JuinTECH C1 brake lever, whose pull ratio is calculated for our Hybrid Hydraulic calipers and removes vague travel before the pistons move. Fresh, low-friction cables complete the system.
